A brief profile of our top location
At an altitude of 469 m above sea level, our house is located at the foot of the Buchberg directly on the Attersee, the largest lake in Austria, which is 20 km long, 2 to 3 km wide and up to 171 m deep. The lake is known as an international sailing area, but the surrounding area has much more to offer: a rich cultural offer, sightseeing and numerous sporting activities that will delight not only golfers, but also cyclists, mountain bikers, hikers and more.
The Attersee region
In our region you will experience not only a spectacular landscape, where for centuries the traditions of summer resort and rural culture have been maintained. See the world heritage pile dwelling and experience numerous events with national and international artists during the summer. The lake invites you to swim, sail and dive, but also enthusiastic golfers will get their money's worth - a total of 15 golf courses can be found here at the lake and in the surrounding area.
Chronicle of the Oberndorfer House in the former Zillenmacherhaus
Towards the end of the 19th century was built house of the family Hager an inn. Josef and Maria Oberndorfer bought the inn in 1905 and according to the plans of the architect Frielingsdorf the hotel construction was started in 1910 and 1911. During the works Mr. Josef Oberndorfer died and so the construction remained unfinished. Only the trunk building was completed.
The second generation: Josef and Victoria Oberndorfer brought the hotel they had taken over through the interwar period and the war. They made modernizations to the furnishings of the house. In 1931, the large hall was built.
The third generation
Josef and Gertrude Oberndorfer took over their parents' business in 1968. In 1970 they realized their grandfather's building concept and built the east-facing, three-story extension with a dining room and 14 guest rooms with modern comforts. In 1977, the old structure was demolished and rebuilt with three upper floors. In the winter of 1984/85 the last part of the old house was extended and remodeled under the direction of architect Franz Maul from Attersee. In 1993/94 also Mr. architect Maul planned the reconstruction of the entrance & foyer.
In spring 2003 the sole proprietorship Oberndorfer became the Oberndorfer GmbH, with Mr. Josef Oberndorfer and his daughters Maria and Christine as partners.
Also the fourth generation will continue the "hospitality with tradition" of their parents, grandparents and great-grandparents in the Seegasthof Oberndorfer.

Up to 90 people can be seated in our 120 m² hall of mirrors with the lake in view or you can enjoy our ambience in the garden, directly on the water.
